If you’ve ever tried to contact Facebook support before, you know how frustrating it can be to try to get in touch with them. That’s because we’re not customers, they don’t have customer service. We are users and with their free model they don’t provide support and so it can be incredibly frustrating. What I want to do today is show you a trick that you can use so that you never had Facebook password issues. Again, issues where you need to receive a reset code from Facebook or anything like that and it’s called setting up dual authentication and it’s super easy to do. I’m going to show you some things on my computer as well as my phone. You can do it on an iPhone or your Android and if you take these steps, you’re not going to have to worry about contacting Facebook in the future.
My company fig social, provides 24/7 Facebook support, so you can go to www.fig.social to learn more. We actually have a free trial right now, so you can check that out, but that’s not why we’re here.
You can go to the app store if you have an iPhone and it’s on Android as well. Download authenticator. It’s a Google product so it’s legit. And what it does is it has these codes. I’m not sure, maybe they last for like 30 seconds. And so I’ve installed that dual authentication on my account. After we get it set up, I’m going to show you how it works. Set this up. Once you’ve downloaded Google authenticator, it’s pretty simple to take these steps and avoid all of these reset password issues that we see a lot with our, our live chat services.
So when you’re logged into Facebook, it’s literally like three or four steps. So I’m going to come over here to the arrow that points down. It’s on your mobile phone as well. I’m going to go to my settings and security and login. Once I get to security and login, I’m going to come down. So you can see there’s a few sections here to two factor authentication. So you want to turn that on. It’s really simple from there. There are one, two, three fourths. So the fourth section down, you’ll go to use two factor authentication.
So once you’re in here you can just go to I’m going to actually select add a new app, you take a picture with that. Google authenticator app. So you’ll take the Google authenticator app, you’ll take a picture of this QR code from from the app. Once it’s open for the first time, it’s going to ask you to do this. That will sync your devices and sync your account with Google authenticator. Anytime you have these issues of needing to reset your password or you’re locked out of your account, it can actually provide that as an, you’re not going to have to worry about old email addresses, old phone numbers, etc.
This is what it looks like when you go through that process once it’s installed. So you start on your phone, you come here to your settings, you take the picture of the QR code to sync things up from there. Once it st it will provide this password and this is what it looks like.
Now that we have that done, we can enter our account. So it’s asking me about a page or something I have published, not really sure, again from the ad agency days, but I am stay logged in. I’m just going to click continue so I don’t log myself out of any of my other devices and now I’m in. And so that is absolutely, you know, that’s that huge and that authenticator. What you want to do is make sure that you have authenticators set up on your account so you don’t run into these issues ever again. So don’t forget to set it up.
