Silly Girl

Almendra Bertoni is pleased to present Silly Girl, a solo exhibition questioning the roles femininity is asked to inhabit. Bertoni examines the historical archetypes of the Virgin, the Madonna, the Temptress and the Muse, looking to what these archetypes have come to embody in a contemporary context. With an air of otherworldliness, her figurative paintings combine multilayered wooden panels to create dreamlike scenes of contorted bodies and airy architectural spaces.
