Isabella Santos·
This sounds amazing! Can't wait for the music and celebration. Dia de Los Muertos is such a beautiful tradition.
Sarah Mitchell·
Love seeing cultural events get support! This should be packed.
Kyle Patterson·
Reggaeton? Why is this always sexualized? There are kids at these community events. Pretty disrespectful.
Benjamin Rossi·
Oh come on, reggaeton is just music. It's part of the culture. Let people celebrate.
Kyle Patterson·
It's not about the music, it's about the MESSAGE. GRINDING and SHAKING aren't appropriate for a family event. But sure, you people never get offended by anything.
Vanessa Repollet·
Maybe don't bring your kids to a RAVE then? It's right there in the name. Go to a daytime community festival instead.
Kyle Patterson·
@van.pilates So we should just NOT have family-friendly cultural events? This neighborhood used to be decent before the decline.
David Chen·
I think they're just celebrating their culture with music and dance. If it's not your thing, there are other events.
Kyle Patterson·
@dchen_runner 'If you don't like it, leave' - yeah, that's real welcoming. This is EXACTLY the problem. You people are hostile to anyone with traditional values.
Sean O'Brien·
This is our community celebrating our heritage. If you're not interested, you're welcome to skip it.
Kyle Patterson·
@seano.sd I'm interested in a community that includes everyone. But YOU PEOPLE have made it clear conservatives aren't welcome. I'm looking at neighborhoods where I actually fit in.
Isabella Santos·
Everyone is welcome! It's just a celebration. Hope to see you there regardless of your opinions.
Patricia Sánchez·
So excited for this event! Día de los Muertos is such a beautiful tradition. Can't wait to bring my family.
Thomas Patterson·
This is great—cultural events like this help us all understand each other better. San Diego is lucky to have this kind of community programming.
James Wilson·
Just another identity politics event. Why do we keep segregating people into these little cultural boxes? Why can't we all just be Americans?
Lucia Chavez·
@jim_w_1975 It's not segregation, it's celebration. Nobody's being excluded from coming. But sure, our traditions make you uncomfortable?
James Wilson·
Uncomfortable? No. I just think we're WAY too focused on 'remembering our heritage' when we should be focused on being one unified culture.
Thomas Patterson·
@jim_w_1975 That 'unified culture' has historically meant erasing everyone else's culture. Día de los Muertos is beautiful and deserves celebration.
James Wilson·
Oh here we go with the 'historical oppression' card. That's all you people ever talk about. Move forward, not backward.
Lucia Chavez·
YOU PEOPLE? Really? Moving forward doesn't mean pretending the past didn't happen. That's gaslighting, not unity.
Patricia Sánchez·
@jim_w_1975 If you think our culture celebrating itself is divisive, honestly maybe this isn't the community for you. There are plenty of homogeneous places.
James Wilson·
Oh wow, now I'm being told to LEAVE? Classic. This is exactly the exclusion I'm talking about. 'If you don't agree, get out.'
Thomas Patterson·
@jim_w_1975 Nobody's telling you to leave. They're saying maybe don't show up to a cultural celebration just to complain about it existing.
James Wilson·
@tom.history.nerd You're all so self-righteous. This woke takeover of everything is exhausting. Fine, have your event. We'll remember what this city used to be.
