Fig Scouts
Make your own scout that keeps watching for something you care about and brings back what it finds.
A Fig Scout watches for one thing you care about, like "salsa night near Hillcrest" or a band you love, and brings back what it finds. Its finds show up as their own feed, next to Home. Fig Scouts are a beta feature.
How a scout works
Scouts are built by Fig, from the ground up. Tell yours what you're after in your own words and it works out what you really mean: the kind of thing, the vibe, where and how far. Then it goes to work for you, finding the real thing and checking every find before you see it, so you get the name, date, place and link, and nothing that's over, online-only or too far away.
It never clocks out. New dates turn up in your scout's feed soon after they're announced, without you lifting a finger. For the full story, tap What's a Scout? under your scouts.
Making a scout
- Open your feeds: swipe right on Home, or tap the feed's name at the top (Home ›). Next to Fig Scouts, tap + New. Or, after a search, tap Scout this.
- Describe what you want your scout to find, in a sentence rather than keywords.
- Set How far: from 5 to 250 miles, or all of the US.
- Pick your Scouts deployment: a Single scout, a Scout squad or a Scout swarm. Every level looks just as carefully; more scouts means you hear about new finds sooner. Each level shows its price.
- Tap Continue. Fig tells you what it understood ("Does this look like what you meant?"). If your words could mean different things, it asks you one question first.
- Tap Yes, start scouting, or No, let me change it to go back.
"Your scout is on it" means it's working. Its feed opens in a moment, and more finds follow. You can have up to 5 scouts.
Using your scouts
- Open your feeds and pick a scout to see its finds. New ones are outlined, and the top of its feed shows it's watching.
- Use the … next to a scout (or hold it) to change its deployment, pause it, resume it or delete it. A paused scout keeps its finds.
- When a scout finds something new, you'll see it in Activity and get an email. See Alerts and emails.
Tell it what's right
Hold a find (or use the line under it on the website) and choose Right for this scout or Not what I meant, like a tribute show, too far away or online only. The scout leaves out things like it from then on.
Your scouts are yours
Nobody else sees your scouts or what you've asked them to find. Your scout's finds come to you first: in its feed, in Activity and by email.
